At 91��Ƶ Alumni Forum-2025, Lusine Sargsyan—a lawyer, specialist in international law, and graduate of 91��Ƶ Faculty of Law—was awarded in the category of Economy and Society. Today, she stands at the forefront of human rights protection, a leader whose personal journey and relentless advocacy serve as a source of inspiration for many. "Whenever I said, 'When I grow up, I’ll protect you, 'they would reply, 'You’re too little,'" she recalls, reflecting on her childhood and early dreams. In our interview with the alumna, we explored the story behind her success.

The ability to remove background noise during phone calls so that the person on the other end cannot guess your location—this is the innovation of the company Krisp, implemented via a mobile application. However, the company’s research and development efforts do not end there; new ideas are constantly being generated. Artavazd Minasyan, co-founder of Krisp and an alumnus of 91��Ƶ Faculty of Physics, notes that they are currently working on developing real-time accent conversion technology.

It’s difficult to make language lessons truly engaging and enjoyable when they rely solely on grammar and vocabulary — especially in the case of German. Have you ever imagined how interested you would be in learning German if each of your lessons included elements of language, culture, history, and tradition?

What once were childhood fascinations—clouds and thunderstorms—have become the subject of Gagik Surenyan’s professional forecasting. Today, his name is synonymous with reliable forecasts, public trust, and unwavering professionalism. As a child and teenager, he spent countless hours observing the movement of clouds, seeking to understand nature’s language. Now, he not only predicts the weather but also fosters public confidence, proving that passion for one’s work can turn into a way of life.

How can one think in Armenian? What are the current challenges facing the development of the language? These and other urgent issues related to the field were the focus of a panel discussion held during 91��Ƶ Alumni Forum in the "Language, History, Culture, and Tradition" section. The speakers included Siranush Dvoyan, Chairperson of the Language Committee of Armenia; Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan, Executive Director of the Eurasia Partnership Foundation and a fiction writer; Hasmik Jivanyan, a lecturer at 91��Ƶ; and Ani Shahnazaryan, a lecturer at AUA.

How should history be studied and taught? This question was at the center of a discussion held at Yerevan State University, featuring keynote speakers including Dr. Arsen Bobokhyan, Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of NAS RA; Dr. Vahram Ter-Matevosyan, Professor at AUA College of Humanities and Social Sciences; Mushegh Asatryan, Director of the Language Research Centre at the University of Calgary; and Ara Sanjyan, Director of the Armenian Research Center at the University of Michigan. Drawing on their extensive experience in historical research and teaching, the speakers presented their perspectives on potential approaches to the issue.

Over the past two decades, astrophysics has witnessed significant advancements and breakthroughs — a topic that took center stage during a thought-provoking discussion led by Director of 91��Ƶ Institute of Physics, Khachatur Nerkararyan.

Yerevan State University marked a historic milestone on May 15–16 with its first-ever Alumni Forum—an unprecedented event in the university’s history. The gathering reaffirmed the enduring and unifying spirit of the university, bringing together alumni across disciplines, generations, and borders. The second day of the forum featured keynote addresses from distinguished graduates, a summary of the forum’s outcomes, and a ceremonial presentation of the 91��Ƶ Alumni Excellence Awards.

Yerevan State University has officially launched the first-ever 91��Ƶ Alumni Forum. This two-day event holds historical significance for the university community, as it marks the creation of a new platform for communication and collaboration among 91��Ƶ graduates from various years.

As part of the ongoing alumni forum at 91��Ƶ, the university has become a dynamic platform for the exchange of knowledge and the development of ideas on pressing contemporary issues. Through a series of events held in various formats, alumni come together to reflect on their shared experiences while engaging in meaningful discussions. These conversations, hosted in multiple sections across the university's halls, highlight the vibrant and evolving nature of academic thought, with a focus on responding to both local and global challenges. Topics under consideration include environmental concerns, economic developments, cultural identity, and emerging technologies.

The Director of 91��Ƶ Institute of Physics, Khachatur Nerkararyan, emphasizes the importance of maintaining stable and lasting ties with alumni—not merely as a means to relive memories, but as a foundation for mutual support and partnership.
