The Faculty of Sociology of Yerevan State University has implemented the following international educational programmes.

1. 1988–1991
A joint programme with the London School of Economics, within the framework of which the first training courses for social work specialists in Armenia were organized.

2. 1996 – “Tempus–Tacis PREJEP”
A one-year programme aimed at creating the prerequisites for participation in larger international educational programmes.

3. 1996–1999 – “Tempus/Tacis JEP”
Within the framework of the programme, reciprocal visits were organized, as well as training for 91��Ƶ lecturers, students, and employees of social services. The first distance learning centers in Armenia were established in Vanadzor and Gyumri.

4. 2001–2003 – “Tempus 3”
Development of the distance learning system and the opening of new distance learning centers at Yerevan State University, as well as in the cities of Sisian and Ijevan.

Programme partners: The Open University (UK), University College Dublin (Ireland).

2009
The Faculty of Sociology of Yerevan State University, in cooperation with the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study, organized the 39th World Congress of the International Institute of Sociology in Yerevan. The congress was attended by around 350 sociologists from more than 60 countries worldwide.

2012
The Faculty of Sociology organized an international conference, which was also attended by Thomas Luckmann.

5. 2010–2013 – “Development of Professional Programmes in Public Health and Social Services”, Tempus 4
Within the framework of the programme, a new Master’s programme entitled Social Policy and Social Administration was launched at Yerevan State University in 2012.

Programme partners: University of Cumbria (UK); KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden); Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania); Moldova State University; Tbilisi State University; Yerevan State Medical University named after M. Heratsi.

6. 2011–2015 – “Tempus 4 UNIMIG” (Migration and Higher Education: Building Capacities and Developing Opportunities)
Programme partners: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; University of Alicante (Spain); University of Oldenburg (Germany); University of Graz (Austria).

7. 2016–2020 – “Erasmus+ PROMIG” (Promoting Migration Studies in Higher Education)
Programme partners: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; University of Alicante (Spain); University of Oldenburg (Germany); University of Graz (Austria); Kabul University (Afghanistan).

8. 2018–2021 (extended to 2022) – “Doctoral Programmes in Public Health and Social Services”, Erasmus+ CBHE
Programme partners: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania); University of Gothenburg (Sweden); Slovakia’s Medical University; University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (Linz).

9. 2024–2027 – “ReCITY: An Inter- and Transdisciplinary Approach to the Revitalization of Former Small Industrial Cities in Armenia to Enhance Their Transformative Potential towards Sustainability.”

The ReCITY project aims to study and support sustainable urban development in Armenia’s small industrial cities in the post-Soviet period. The project is implemented by the Territorial Studies and Development Laboratory of the Faculty of Sociology of Yerevan State University.

The project is funded by the OeAD APPEAR programme.

Programme partners include the Department of Geography and Regional Research of the University of Vienna, in particular the Urban Studies Working Group, and the NGO “Journalists for Cities’ Development”.

Joint programmes have also been implemented with a number of foreign universities, including mutual visits of lecturers and students, summer schools, and research projects. These universities include George Mason University and Arizona State University (USA); the universities of Frankfurt, Konstanz, Ludwigshafen, Potsdam, Humboldt University of Berlin, and the University of Münster (Germany); Sapienza University of Rome (Italy); University of Stavanger (Norway); University of Hradec Králové (Czech Republic); University of Bucharest (Romania); Southern Federal University and Ural Federal University (Russia); and Mogilev State University (Belarus).

Cooperation with the University of Connecticut (USA), initiated in 2003, is still continuing. Within this framework, visits of lecturers and students are organized, joint research projects and publications are carried out, and online lectures are delivered.
