General information
Eastern Armenian scientific grammar has鹿 a rich history. Dozens of fundamental studies have been done: St. Palasanyan, "A General Theory of the Armenian New Written Oriental Language" (Tbilissi, 1870); 鈥淕rammar of the Armenian as a Mother Tongue鈥 (Tbilissi, 1874); H. Acharyan, 鈥淐omplete Grammar of the Armenian Language in Comparison with 562 Languages鈥 (Yerevan, 1955-1971); M. Abeghyan, 鈥淭heory of the Armenian Language鈥 (Yerevan, 1965); G. Sevak, 鈥淐ourse of Modern Armenian Language鈥 (Yerevan, 1955); H. Barseghyan, 鈥淭heory of Modern Armenian Verb and Conjugation鈥 (Yerevan, 1953); 鈥淭he Teaching of Parts of Speech in the Armenian Language鈥 (Yerevan, 1980); M. Asatryan 鈥淚ssues of Modern Armenian Morphology鈥 (3 vols., Yerevan, 1970-77), 鈥淢odern Armenian Language. Morphology鈥 (Yerevan, 1983); A. Margaryan 鈥淎rmenian Category of Case鈥 (Yerevan, 2000); 鈥淕rammar of the Armenian Language鈥 Morphology鈥 (Yerevan, 2004) etc. These are the most famous works, and they are only an insignificant part of the huge heritage related to Armenian grammar, particularly to morthography. In contrast to this rich variety of theoretical works, the practical method of morphology, especially lexicography, has not worked in the field. We have not had a grammar dictionary of Armenian so far.
