In May and June of this year, three experts from 91视频 Pharmacy Institute鈥檚 Scientific-Educational Center for Drug Quality Control and Monitoring participated in a collaborative research initiative at the Institute of Polymers, Composites, and Biomaterials of the National Research Council of Italy. The project's international partner was Professor Marino Lavorgna, while the Armenian team was led by Lusine Hayrapetyan.
This working visit was primarily aimed at deepening scientific collaboration focused on the development of chiral composite sorbents. Research activities were conducted under stringent laboratory conditions, adhering to high scientific standards, encompassing the following stages and methodologies:
Activation of silica gel surfaces followed by covalent attachment of specific chemical groups;
Immobilization of a vancomycin-based chiral selector onto the activated surface;
Fabrication and integration of next-generation chitosan-based films within the sorbent system;
Application of Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to monitor and control chemical processes;
Adaptation and implementation of new analytical methods on laboratory samples.
During their stay, the Armenian experts toured specialized laboratories at the host institute to see the state-of-the-art equipment, analytical infrastructure, and applied research potential.
The outcomes of this project significantly enhanced the participants鈥 expertise, enabling the introduction and application of innovative technologies within their home institution. Notably, this collaboration laid the groundwork for a subsequent three-month program, including data co-processing, experimental validation, and preparation of findings for publication.
