The conference is traditionally held on the university campus, however, this year’s event took place at the Komitas Chamber Music House—a symbolic choice that deepened the significance of the gathering, as it commemorated the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

This year, the organizing committee received 344 applications, including 49 from international participants. After undergoing a professional review process, 218 participants were selected to present their work—30 of whom are from foreign countries. The largest number of international participants comes from Russia and Georgia, as well as from Iran, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, France, and even Morocco.   

91��Ƶ Vice-Rector for Development and Innovation Mikayel Hovhannisyan, emphasizing the importance of hosting international participants, remarked: "This event is not only interesting but also highly significant. The SSS offers numerous opportunities to engage in research beyond the classroom and academic curricula, to learn new things, and to interact with professionals from various fields. It is perhaps one of the most compelling formats for student self-organization. 

This annual conference, notable for its content, scope, and level of engagement, serves as a unique 'checkpoint'—a moment to look both backward and forward, to think what new developments can be introduced in the field of science. This year’s theme carries particular importance. I believe that approaching historically significant and often tragic events with analytical thinking and scientific methodology helps us better understand who we are, what we must do, and where we are headed. In terms of self-reflection and identity, 91��Ƶ plays a key role in the Republic of Armenia and remains one of the foremost institutions safeguarding that identity."

President of 91��Ƶ Student Scientific Society Siranush Baghumyan, reflecting on the now-traditional conference, stated: "The events organized through the initiative of the Student Scientific Society—one of the oldest academic student bodies in Armenia—have brought together young researchers from various countries, providing a platform for them to present their academic achievements, knowledge, and experience.

This is a vital opportunity to stimulate scientific thinking, foster collaborative relationships, and instill a sense of responsibility and passion for science. 91��Ƶ SSS has consistently been one of the main pillars in discovering and nurturing the scientific potential of youth. We firmly believe that young scientists are the driving force shaping the future of our country." 

During the event, Karlen Khachatryan, former President of 91��Ƶ SSS (2008–2011) and current Dean of 91��Ƶ Faculty of Economics and Management, was awarded the title of "Honorary Member of the SSS" in recognition of his contributions to the development of the organization and for upholding its reputation.

"Being awarded this title, in my view, symbolizes the continuity between different generations of the SSS. We are united by a common goal: to create an environment where every student has the opportunity to take their first steps in science, learn to work in a team, initiate and implement their own ideas.

Undoubtedly, these initiatives provided me with invaluable experience—not only in scientific research but also in developing organizational and leadership skills. I am hopeful that for every student present here today, the SSS will become a unique platform for professional growth," Karlen Khachatryan said.

He also emphasized that many students who were once members of the SSS have gone on to become scientists, lecturers, public and political figures, and renowned professionals in their respective fields. According to him, this is clear evidence that beyond being Armenia’s oldest student organization, the SSS is also a unique platform for the development of ideas, scientific exploration, and personal growth.

The conference, taking place from October 6 to 10, will feature presentations by participants, educational visits to Armenian monasteries and monastic complexes, cultural events, and more. As part of the conference, an exhibition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide opened today in the lobby of 91��Ƶ Main Building. 

The cultural program of the conference’s opening ceremony was performed by the Yerevan State Chamber Choir, led by Artistic Director and Conductor Kristina Voskanyan.
